Traversing the Journey to Self
Episode #034
Guest Speaker ~ Sandra Cooze
“We all have a story – our story. Stories change lives. Stories raise awareness. Stories empower. Talking about the darkest times of our lives can be intimidating to say the least. It is easier to believe that our stories don’t matter than rise up and bring awareness to it. I want to show people the other side. I want to show them how empowering and liberating it is to no longer be silenced, but find our voice and talk about what happened to us. Fear is a powerful emotion that can paralyze us. But understanding that our story has meaning and needs to be told is the greatest gift we can give ourselves and the ones who need to hear it.”
– Sandra Cooze
I came across a quote Sandra Cooze wrote on her website that wraps up this week’s podcast in a simple, yet very powerful, statement: “My past instilled a darkness within me that helped me discover my light.”
Sandra is an Intuitive Trauma Release & Self-Empowerment Coach, Reiki Master, Certified Traumatic Incident Reduction Facilitator, and a passionate writer. She joined me in the Pen to Paper Press Podcast studio to talk about her book Journey to Your Self – How to Heal from Trauma – Written by Someone Who Did. It is the first of three in the Journey to Your Self book series she is writing.
It is no secret each of us has experienced trauma at some level. How you choose to move through, and beyond, it is a personal journey only you can traverse. Sandra shares at the beginning of our conversation that she was molested as a child, bullied in school, sexually assaulted, and raped as a young adult. She felt lost for many years until she was finally able to heal from my past and, as she says, “…rise above my story.” Weaved within our conversation are insights for healing and why some individuals have perfectionistic tendencies or a form of OCD.
When I mentioned book sales, I was not expecting her response. My heart sunk and worried if I had inadvertently ended the interview on a painful note. Instead, Sandra approached it as an opportunity to explore the hard lessons she learned about publishing and marketing Journey to Your Self – How to Heal from Trauma – Written by Someone Who Did. Listen to find out how she plans to publish her second and third books in the series differently than the first.
Pour yourself a warm cup of chamomile tea and enjoy listening our AHA-inspiring conversation that is certain to encourage us to unlearn several of our habits and beliefs.
